BRIEF OF PROCESS:
Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, HDFC Bank Limited is an Indian banking and financial services company. As of February 2017, it is the largest bank in India by market capitalization. Over the years, the bank has received recognition and accolades for its quality product services.
PROBLEMS FACED BY THE CLIENT
The client had 8 hard drives [2 Hard disks (146 GB), 2 Hard Disks (900 GB), 4 Hard disks (300 GB), manufactured by IBM] in their server which got waterlogged and as a consequence, all the hard drives were unable to boot on the server. All the critical information was stored on the hard drives; hence, it was imperative to recover all the folders and files.
The situation called for an immediate action as the client could not afford to lose data as it would raise questions over its relevancy in the financial sector. Therefore, the client approached Stellar Data Recovery Centre Chennai to squarely recover all the important data.
THE CLIENT’S APPROACH TOWARDS CHALLENGE
The data was stored in two different RAID configuration i.e. RAID 1 and RAID 5 configuration; therefore, it was a priority task to recover data from the affected hard drives.
In the ever-expanding banking ecosystem, for any bank, the data it has its core asset. Losing critical data due to any reasons could pose serious threats. Therefore, to eliminate such threats, the client first removed all the hard drives from the server and approached Stellar Data Recovery Service Centre – Chennai to resolve the issue.

As soon as the client contacted Stellar, one of our representatives got in touch with the client and requested the client to submit the hard drives so that the Stellar Data Recovery experts could analyze the hard drives and get to the root of the problem. After completing the documentation process, the client submitted the hard drives. Upon receiving the hard drives, the data recovery experts analyzed the hard drives one-by-one sector-wise in Class 100 Clean Room Labs and found that there were bad sectors in either of the RAID configuration. Also, in RAID 5 configuration, the heads were not working properly.
To recover data from the hard drives, the data recovery team performed the following steps:
- Firstly, the team created the sector-to-sector image of the hard drives to find any good partition, but due to configuration errors could not find any.
- After implementing a continuous process, the team found a few good partitions and checked all the important files and folders
- Finally, all the files and folders were in a working state; hence, recovered them successfully
